The Best Themed Evening Venues At Sea
A cruise offers the perfect chance to let your hair down, especially when the sun sets, the warm glow of the casual lighting is replaced by vibrant disco lights and the music gets turned up. Modern ships can boast some fantastic venues for after-hours fun that will have you dancing into the night and rediscovering your rhythm. Here are some of our favourite evening venues at sea.
The Tube – Disney Fantasy
Disney’s cruise ships are obviously aimed at families with children, but when the kids are in bed or enjoying the activities in the Oceaneer Club, the adult-only ‘Europa’ area of the vessel comes alive. One such venue is The Tube, themed around the London underground and complete with telephone boxes and a Union Flag dancefloor. You may be on holiday to escape the UK, but there’s no doubting that the landmark-themed cocktails and quirky atmosphere of this club offer the perfect excuse to party in the capital.
B.B. King's Blues Club - Koningsdam, Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Oosterdam, Rotterdam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam
One of the newer venues added to the ships in Holland America’s fleet is B.B King’s Blues Club, the perfect spot for you to enjoy some live soul, jazz and R&B music. During the evenings, the band takes over the Queen’s Lounge and will have you up on your feet and singing along to classics originally performed by the likes of Ella James, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.
Limelight Club – Britannia
When P&O Cruises launched Britannia in 2015, they decided to reinvigorate the tradition of supper clubs with the addition of the Limelight Club. Whilst enjoying a delicious three-course meal at the side of the dancefloor, guests will be entertained by various live musicians singing jazz, blues and pop classics that will make you sway in your seat. The tradition may hark back to the early days of cruising, but the food and performances are as modern as they come.
Boleros Lounge – Various Royal Caribbean Ships
If you like to hit the dancefloor rather than enjoy the music from your table, Royal Caribbean’s Boleros Lounge provides the chance to do this in style. This Latin-themed nightspot is a great place to grab your favourite cocktail (they have the best Caipirinhas this side of Rio) and sashay onto the floor to show off your samba, tango or rumba. There are also free dance lessons held here during the day so you can brush up on your steps in time for the evening.
Howl At The Moon - Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Getaway
When all other venues have closed for the night and many of the guests have made their way back to their cabins, the talented musicians at Howl At The Moon will still be performing your requests with vigour. Two live performers go head to head, duelling pianos style, to perform a range of songs from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today suggested on the fly by audience members. The atmosphere is amazing and the energetic renditions really get the crowd going. It’s something you won’t want to miss whenever you sail with Norwegian Cruise Line.
There are some fantastic venues on board cruise ships that will have you singing, dancing and drinking into the night. Those listed above and many, many more are sure to help you create some unforgettable holiday highlights, so call us on 0808 115 8062 to talk about the itineraries on offer.
