Scenic To Take To The Oceans In 2018
In the wake of Viking and Crystal announcing their moves into ocean cruising in recent years, another company has decided to step outside its current cruising parameters to provide their customers with a different way of seeing the world. Scenic currently offer river cruises in Europe and Asia, as well as escorted tours throughout much of the world, but have now declared that they are venturing onto the ocean waves. 2018 will see the launch of the brand new Scenic Eclipse, currently being built in Croatia, which will offer an experience akin to that found on board a luxury yacht.
Luxury In Abundance
In keeping with the current Scenic offering, life aboard Scenic Eclipse will abound with luxuries. Not only will there be plenty of space on deck, thanks to the small capacity of just 228 guests, every suite will also come with its own butler. And speaking of suites, the ship will only feature this type of accommodation, with all 114 of them offering fantastic sea views via spacious verandas. The luxury continues with the all-inclusive experience that is provided as standard. This means that guests will not pay anything extra for things like drinks, Wi-Fi and even shore excursions.
Scenic have also released details about where in the world the vessel will be sailing. Adventurous cruisers may be excited to know that there will be an element of discovery about Scenic Eclipse’s itineraries. As well as the Mediterranean, the Americas and the Norwegian Fjords, the ship will offer polar cruises in both Antarctica and the Arctic. Guests will have the chance to explore regions which are seldom visited and see things which very few people will ever get to witness.
Equipped For Explorations
To aid these explorations into frozen waters, the ship will have the highest ice class possible and will therefore be cable of sailing through ice floes without problem. Whilst extra-large stabilisers will be deployed to help cope with rough conditions, a number of vehicles will be available during excursions. A fleet of zodiacs, kayaks, two helicopters and even a seven-seater submarine will all be provided for those wishing to really immerse themselves in their surroundings, with the latter two activities incurring an additional cost.
Chris Townson, UK boss of Scenic said “There will be nothing quite like Scenic Eclipse. The level of luxury and the first class facilities and unmatched safety features will mean that this is the best of the best.” He also revealed that there is the option for the operator to launch a second vessel which could be built in time for in 2019.
There’s no doubting the fact that Scenic Eclipse will be a fantastic addition to the cruising industry. Keep your eyes peeled for more information in the build up to her maiden voyage on August 31st 2018.
