Royal Caribbean Brings Us Another First At Sea

Over the years, Royal Caribbean has earnt a reputation for introducing a wide range of ‘first at sea’ experiences for cruisers that choose to sail on their action-packed ships. So far, the cruise line has brought us robot bartenders, surf simulators, zip-lines, viewing capsules and more, but now they’re set to offer the first mat racing waterslide at sea.

The news comes as the company announced details about the forthcoming refurbishment of Navigator of the Seas. Following on from the popular Independence of the Seas, which received an upgrade in 2018, a whole host of new features will be added to Navigator, including some facilities that are brand new for Royal Caribbean.

Ride The Riptide

Navigator of the Seas Waterslides

As well as the mat racer, to be called Riptide, the onboard waterpark will soon be able to boast the longest waterslide on any cruise vessel in the world. The Blaster will propel thrill-seekers both up and down sections of the slide, as well as taking them briefly over the side of the ship. At 800 feet long, it will provide a unique experience that is sure to be at the top of many people’s to-do lists.

Elsewhere, there will be new dining areas, new bars and new entertainment features that are either making their way onto a Royal Caribbean ship for the first time or are borrowed from other vessels in the fleet. Mexican street food restaurant, El Loco Fresh; Jamie’s Italian; and glow-in-the-dark laser tag are all examples of venues that you may already be familiar with, but the range of brand new offerings is sure to excite any potential cruiser.

Venues To Dry For

To Dry For

Once Navigator of the Seas emerges from dry dock, you will be able to sip a cool drink whilst a stylist perfects your new hairdo, thanks to a hairdressing bar by the name of To Dry For. You’ll also be able to top up your glass in The Lime and Coconut or The Bamboo Room – two bars that offer tropical vibes and somewhere to unwind. Lastly, with the popularity of escape rooms growing around the world, you can put your head together with the rest of your friends and family in an attempt to escape from The Observatorium.

The Bamboo Room

The renovations will be completed by 24th February and will set Navigator on course to be the first visitor to ‘Perfect Day at CocoCay’, Royal Caribbean’s reimagined private island that has received a facelift to the tune of $200 million. One of a planned collection of exclusive hideaways, the resort will be home to the tallest water slide in North America, relaxing beaches and picturesque cabanas over the water.
