P&O Cruises’ Aurora To Become Adult-Only

Some people love to take their whole family cruising, making the most of the excellent children’s facilities available with cruise lines that allow everyone to find something they like to do. P&O Cruises have always been amongst this group of cruise lines, offering fantastic kids clubs and children’s activities on five of its eight ships. However, a recent announcement will mean this number will soon reduce to four.

That’s because the company has outlined plans to turn Aurora into an adult-only ship when she emerges from her dry dock renovation in March 2019. Currently, Arcadia, Adonia and Oriana are the three ships in the fleet that cater solely for adults, but Aurora’s refit will turn her into a child-free haven for cruisers looking to get away from it all – even the kids.

According to P&O Cruises senior vice president Paul Ludlow, the move is all about choice. The cruise line has always prided itself on giving people the option to either cruise with or without children on the ship and the decision to change Aurora is aimed at giving those wanting to do the latter a bigger selection of dates and itineraries. So, we should see some new additions on board the ship after March to help her appeal to her new adult-only audience.

This still leaves Britannia, Ventura, Oceana and Azura offering family-friendly cruises, with two more ships on the way in 2020 and 2022 that will also fall into this category. Plus, in order to counteract Aurora’s move, P&O Cruises have added another 3,500 child places for cruises departing in 2018. That means that, whether you want to have one last family holiday on board Aurora or enjoy the amazing facilities on the other four ships, there’s more opportunity than ever this year.

But what if you have already booked your family cruise on board Aurora for after March 2019? The cruise line says that they will offer anyone who has done this the chance to switch to another cruise or receive a full refund along with a five percent discount on a future cruise.
