MSC Cruises Announces 2021 Ship Transformation and Summer Sailings
MSC Cruises has announced 24 summer sailings departing from Southampton to Northern Europe, Madeira, the Baltic Capitals, Canary Islands and Mediterranean. These itineraries are scheduled for the summer period of 2021, after MSC Magnifica undergoes her €130 million refurbishment during the previous months of March and April.
MSC Magnifica Refit
This magnificent dry-dock transformation involves cutting the ship in half and adding a 23-metre-long piece in the centre, therefore expanding the ship and adding 7,000 square metres of space on the inside. 215 extra cabins will fill the majority of this area, meaning 63% of the ship’s cabins have a private balcony - so make sure you book yours before they all go.
Other additions include two new restaurants - that are said to be the line’s most popular- a shopping area and expanded sun deck. A water park will also be added and the children’s indoor and outdoor areas will receive a redesign. These changes occurred as MSC Cruises wanted to focus on both UK couples and families.
MSC Magnifica will also feature three brand-new environmental features; The Selective Catalytic Reduction System which converts nitrogen oxide into pure nitrogen and water, The Advanced Wastewater Treatment System that purifies used wastewater into near tap water quality and The Exhaust Gas Cleaning System, which removes the sulphur dioxide from the ship’s exhaust. All three of these environmental elements are helping MSC Cruises reduce their impact on the environment and comply with the Baltic standards.
MSC Magnifica’s summer sailings will commence in May 2021 and carry on till October 2021, most departing on a Saturday. The itineraries range from two nights to 14 nights so there’s definitely something for everyone. One of the highlights includes a 12-night trip in May around the Canary Islands, where you’ll experience the bustling ports and warm climate of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote.
Another highlight is the mini-cruise to Bruges over May bank holiday that would make for a great weekend away. The final highlight is a 14-night trip in August around the Western Mediterranean, where you’ll get the chance to wander around Palma de Mallorca and beautiful Monte Carlo.
However, if the Norwegian Fjords are somewhere you’d like to explore then you’re in luck as MSC Cruises are organising four different itineraries, calling at two brand new destinations - Skagen in Denmark, which is best known for its warm climate and Rosendal in Norway that holds one of the world’s largest fjords - a must-see sight.
Responding To Feedback
This announcement is a result of ongoing feedback received from both UK travel agents and customers, who wished to travel around European countries and cities with MSC Cruises from the UK. The 2021 summer sailings are on sale now and if you book before 12th November 2019, you could receive up to £100 onboard spending money per stateroom.
