MS Fram Will Soon Look More Glam
Hurtigruten has announced that their original expeditions vessel, MS Fram, will go into dry dock during the spring of 2020 and emerge as brand new.

Last week we told you how 2020 was set to be one of the biggest years that the cruising industry has ever seen and recent news means it has just got even better. Hurtigruten has announced that their original expeditions vessel, MS Fram, will go into dry dock during the spring of 2020 and emerge as brand new.

A full refit is planned with everything from the cabins and suites to the engines getting an overall to ensure the ship, named after a legendary Norwegian explorer vessel, offers the most up to date technology and comfort.

MS Fram

Much of the renovations will add more of a Scandinavian feel to certain areas, including in the private cabins where natural and local materials will be used to create a clean, simple but premium décor. Nordic touches will also be seen in one of two new restaurants. The current main dining area is to be split into two separate venues in order to give guests added choice when it comes to mealtimes. Aune, an informal setting, will feature an exciting menu of Scandinavian delights morning, noon and night. Conversely, Lindstrøm will provide a more formal environment and will also double as a swanky cocktail bar.

As well as upgrading existing public areas, like converting the observation lounge into the Explorers Lounge and Bar, some entirely new additions will make their way on board. A state-of-the-art Science Centre will be added to help explorers learn more about the fantastic places they will visit and the amazing wildlife that lives there. This area will feature touchscreen displays and other gadgets that will provide a deeper understanding of life in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.

Finally, upgrades will be made to the engines so that MS Fram is propelled in the most environmentally friendly way possible, helping to preserve these delicate and remote regions for others wishing to visit in the future.

If you would like to plan a Hurtigruten cruise on board MS Fram, either before or after her extensive renovation, our team will be happy to help. Call us on 0808 250 7052 or contact us through the website by clicking here.
