Encore, Encore! Seabourn Launches Its Largest Ever Ship.
This month Seabourn welcomed the newest addition to their fleet, the Seabourn Encore, and celebrated a new era in bigger cruise ships for the company. News emerged back in 2013 that Seabourn planned to construct its biggest vessel yet, outweighing all of her sister ships by around 8,000 tonnes and with a capacity for an extra 150 guests. The Seabourn Encore was finally unveiled this month in Singapore, by British soprano and West End star Sarah Brightman.
Those who equate luxury cruising with smaller ships, will not be disappointed with Seabourns’ new direction, as on-board Encore there is all the look and feel of a luxury yacht, with the added space allowing for more dining options. Some of these new options including an al fresco dining experience created by American chef Thomas Keller, as well as the cruise lines first Japanese restaurant, Sushi.
Despite its larger size, Encore is not to be beaten in the standard of luxury that Seabourn customers are used to, all of the accommodation on board consist of balcony suites with marble en-suite bathrooms and walk in wardrobes. The Wintergarden Suites are now five times larger and are equipped with a solarium and sea view bathtub. The ship also offers a new area for passengers to rent out, The Retreat, consists of 16 cabanas and sits at the top of the vessel for unparalleled views and ultimate privacy.
President of Seabourn, Richard Meadows, is positive that this new step for the company is going to prove as successful as their other award winning vessels. “The launch of Seabourn Encore marks the start of a new era of ultra-luxury cruising….Seabourn Encore marks a major step forward in terms of growth for our company. This ship is stunningly beautiful and I know guests are going to be absolutely captivated as they step aboard and see it first-hand.”
