Are You Ready For UK Cruise Week 2015?
Each year, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) dedicates a whole week to raising the profile and awareness of cruising. This is the chance for holidaymakers to get involved in the conversation and to learn all that they can about the wonderful world of ocean and river travel. There are sure to be a few enticing deals around to celebrate the event too.
Here’s what we know about this year’s cruise week so far.
It Will Last For More Than A Week
That’s right. Ironically, this year’s Cruise Week will actually last for a total of nine days. Starting on Saturday the 19th of September and continuing until Sunday the 27th, each day will have its own specific focus.
This Year’s Theme Is ‘New To Cruising’
There is usually an overriding theme to proceedings which helps to provide a focal point for all the events and activities that take place during the week. This year, the focus will be on informing people who are yet to take a cruise about what they are missing. There will be a spotlight on some of the fabulous destinations that can be reached via a cruise ship, as well as all the exciting facilities that can be found on board the world’s best ships.
You Can Get Involved On Social Media
The best way you can get involved with UK Cruise Week is to take part in the conversations that will be happening on social media. Cruise operators will be hosting Q and A sessions, holding competitions and highlighting hashtags in a bid to get as many people buzzing about the cruise industry as possible. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and many other channels will be awash with glorious imagery of the kinds of ports that you could be visiting and you will be able to learn all about cruising by engaging in the social media activity.
There Are Deals To Be Had
At the moment, many of the cruise lines who are planning offers for Cruise Week are keeping their cards close to their chest. However, you can be sure that there will be plenty of ways to take advantage of some great offers when the 19th of September rolls around. One deal that we do know about is Celebrity Cruises' offering of a half priced second fare when you purchase a European cruise for 2016. Keep your eyes peeled for more in the coming weeks.
It’s Not Just For Ocean Cruises
Although CLIA held the first ever River Cruise Weekend early this year, river cruising is still a big part of Cruise Week. This means that if you don’t think sailing the vast oceans is something you would enjoy, you can learn all about travelling along the world’s inland waterways instead. AmaWaterwaysare one river cruise line that is marking the event with a host of offers. There are deals for river cruises along the Rhine, through Bordeaux, in Asia and even in South Africa. One popular trip could well be the Christmas Markets cruise that is sailing on the 14th of December 2016 and which includes free flights from London and the option of free parking or exclusive access to the airport lounge.
If you would like to take advantage of UK Cruise Week 2015, you can browse the Fred Cruises and Fred River Cruises websites for some excellent deals, or join in the fun on social media by using the hashtag #CLIACruiseFest.
