6 Exciting New Additions On Board Symphony Of The Seas
Royal Caribbean is known in the world of cruising for always pushing the boundaries of what is possible on board a cruise ship. They added robot bar tenders to their Oasis and Quantum Class ships, took guests high above the waves in the Northern Star viewing pod and offer the opportunity to learn to surf and sky dive on various different vessels.
Last week saw further details announced for the latest addition to the fleet and they have got everyone here at Fred.\ Cruises HQ very excited. Symphony of the Seas, due to arrive in spring 2018, looks set to be another trailblazer in the world of ocean cruising, thanks to some of these fantastic new additions.
Ultimate Family Suites
Royal Caribbean’s Loft Suites are some of the best looking and most luxurious accommodation options at sea. With two storeys of space, they are perfect for families and, thanks to the new Ultimate Family Suites, they are now even better. 3D films will be available to watch on the TV, there will be a pool table on the balcony and an air hockey table will be found inside, meaning there’s plenty to keep young cruisers busy. Plus, the best part is that there is a slide between the two floors.
This brand new restaurant is perfect for anyone who loves the fresh flavours of the ocean. From grilled fish to shellfish and even sushi, there is plenty on the menu to get excited about. Don’t worry if you’re not a fan of fish though, delicious steak and chicken options are available too. This restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner and will offer great views over the front of the ship.
Playmakers Sports Bar And Arcade
The Boardwalk is a popular neighbourhood on the latest Royal Caribbean ships and it has been improved further on board Symphony of the Seas. Not only is there a new high-flying show in the AquaTheatre, there is also a new sports bar spanning the length of the Boardwalk. Playmakers will provide a casual atmosphere in which to watch your favourite team on the box and enjoy some match-worthy food. Tuck into burgers, wings and chicken strips but remember to wash your hands before you show off your joystick skills in the arcade.
Having welcomed the cast of the Broadway production Grease onboard Harmony of the Seas, another of New York’s most popular shows will be gracing Symphony’s theatre. The award-winning Hairspray will be bigger and better than ever, ensuring you are up on your feet and singing along as Tracy Turnblad does everything she can to hit the big time.
Another new show for Symphony of the Seas represents a first on land and sea and is sure to be something you’ve never experienced before. This unique performance documents the history of air travel but starting in the future and heading backwards in time. You will see the first brave explorers heading off on the maiden voyage to Mars, before taking a trip all the way back to when the Wright Brothers first got their big idea off the ground.
The latest technology is not only used for entertainment purposes on board a Royal Caribbean cruise but also to help make your holiday run smoothly. From ‘wayfinders’ that help you navigate the vast vessels to wristbands that enable you to purchase anything without cash, streamlining is a great use of new tech. And so, on board Symphony of the Seas, a new mobile check-in service will be available to help reduce boarding times and give guests a stress-free start to the trip. Travellers will check-in in the days before their cruise using a new app and then upload a picture of themselves. On the day of embarkation, clever facial recognition software will then scan everyone and direct them to their cabin.
These additions are all very exciting but there’s more. Other dining venues such as El Loco Fresh, a Mexican-inspired affair, and Sugar Beach, a parlour full of sweets and ice cream, will also make an appearance. This is alongside a new, time travelling ice skating show in Studio B, called 1977: Adventure Through Time, and alien-battling laser quest for all the family to enjoy.
